Cork City Marathon, Half Marathon and Team Relay

The Cork Marathon is an official 42.195km (26 miles and 385 yards) marathon course. Cork is a full member of AIMS, the Association of International Marathons and Distance Races. More on the marathon course here.

Half Marathon

In 2010 we changed the marathon course to remove a tough hill on the Model Farm Road at about the 21/22-mile mark. The changes flattened the overall course profile significantly and proved to be popular with the participants. The downside of the changes, however, is that the halfway point of the full marathon course is now on the narrowest part of the course. This means we can’t have a relay changeover point at or anywhere close to halfway. For teams of two, there isn’t anyway to share the course equally - one member has to run at least 15.5 miles.

To address this, in 2011 we introduced an official Half Marathon. More on the Half Marathon here.

Team Relay

One of the exciting aspects of the Cork Marathon is the Team Relay, which really makes this The Marathon for Everyone! The relay offers runners, joggers and walkers of all distances an opportunity to take part in the marathon without having to complete the full 26.2 miles. If you're over 18 on the day you're included and, remember, there's no upper age limit! More on the Team Relay here.

Youth Team Relay

Information on the 2012 Youth Team Relay will be released shortly.
