Team Relay Event
How long are the relay stages?
Can two people share the course equally?
There are 5 runners in my team. Do we need to fill out 5 forms?
How will I get to my relay changeover stage?
Registration takes place on Sat 31st May and Sun 1st June. Does my team need to attend?
How many can run in a team?
The marathon course is divided into 5 stages, so up to 5 people can share the course. The format is tailored for teams of 5, but teams of 2, 3 or 4 members can also share the course.
If your team has fewer than 5 members, at least one of you will have to take more than one consecutive stage.

How long are the relay stages?
- Start (Patrick’s Street) to near Silversprings Hotel: 5.2 miles (8.3km)
- Silversprings to Ringmahon Road: 5.5 miles (8.9km)
- Ringmahon to Victoria Road: 5.8 miles (9.3km)
- Victoria Road to Model Farm Road: 5.2 miles (8.4km)
- Model Farm Road to finishing line (Patrick’s Street): 4.6 miles (7.5km)
There's a detailed map of the course here.
Can I run more than 1 stage?
Yes, but they must be consecutive stages. For example, with three in a team the first runner could take stages 1 & 2, while the second takes 3 & 4 and team member no. 3 takes the final stage. ( How the Relay works 2012 PDF) or ( How the Relay works 2012 MS Word Doc) gives more detailed information on the possible combinations.

Can two people share the course equally?
No, because of safety issues it hasn't been possible to locate a changeover point on or near the halfway mark. However, it is still possible to share the marathon course with another runner as part of the relay. See ( How the Relay works 2012 PDF) for your options.

There are 5 runners in my team. Do we need to fill out 5 forms?
No. You fill out one form per team, regardless of the number of team members. The team captain should fill out the form, giving his or her details and the name, age, gender and t-shirt size of their team mates.

How is the relay event timed?
At registration, your team will get one timing chip. The team member who will cross the finish line must wear the timing chip. The chip will activate when you cross the finish line. As with the marathon, your official time is from the starting gun to the chipped finish time.
You do not need to return your chip at the end of the race.
How will I get to my relay changeover stage?
Buses to take you to your changeover point will be parked in front of City Hall before the race starts (9am). These will shuttle from City Hall to the outlying relay points. (We won't be busing you to Victoria Road, because it's only a 2-minute walk from City Hall!) Full details will be available at registration.

Registration takes place on Sat. 2nd and Sun. 3rd June. Does my team need to attend?
On Saturday 2nd or Sunday 3rd June at least one of your team must register at Cork City Hall. There you'll receive your team's race numbers, timing chip and goodie bag. Please remember to bring your Confirmation of Entry & Race Number form with you (you'll be sent that after your entry has been processed). Of course, everyone is welcome to attend registration. It's a good opportunity to meet other participants and to exchange experiences. There will be plenty of activity at registration including an Expo of shops, businesses and organisations.
