Running & Walks Summer Series
The following is a list of traditional style Road Races and Walks to be organised by Ballyhoura Fáilte and local athletic clubs in the Ballyhoura region. The aim of the series is to promote physical activity and tourism in the area, while at the same time it is hoped that the events will be positive social occasions for the local communities. All are welcome to participate whether Walking, Jogging or Running.
- Friday April 30th - Doneraile Park Trails 5km – Mallow A.C.
- Sunday May 16th - Kilfinane Ladies 2 & Mens 4 mile – Kilfinane A.C.
- Friday June 4th - Doneraile Park Trails 5km – Mallow A.C.
- Friday June 18th - Bilboa Ger Mullane Memorial 10k race – Bilboa A.C.
Also in the series in July and August:
- Mitchelstown 5 mile - Galtee Runners
- Kilteely Festival Road Race - Bilboa A.C.
- Liscarroll A.C. Tom Fitzpatrick Memorial 10k - Liscarroll A.C.
Anyone who completes 5 out of the 7 races will receive a high quality technical t-shirt.

Running Workshops (Tues 4th & Wed 5th May)
Tuesday 4th May:
Get expert advice from Shane Simcox, who'll present a Running Workshop in Leisureworld Bishopstown on Tuesday 4th May at 8pm - 9.15pm. The workshop will cover topics including:
- Interval training
- Training for 5k to marathon
- Nutrition
- Tapering,
- Injury prevention
- Footwear, and more
While the workshop will cover all aspects of running training, Shane will also deal with training and nutrition for marathons, which would be of particular interest to beginners who are tackling a marathon for the first time.
Due to the size of the conference room, places are limited so early booking is advisable.

Wednesday 5th May
The seminar will kick off with Michael Herlihy who will focus on last year's experience and dealing with the heat on the day. Michael will also speak about using Garmin GPS enabled sports watch and how it aids his training.
Donie Walsh will speak about his preparations for marathons and experiences throughout the marathon.
Peter Maher will speak about preventing injury.
