Cork City Marathon goes greener in 2023!

With less than 3 weeks to go now, it’s full steam ahead at Cork City Marathon headquarters, where Davis Events Agency and Cork City Council are working together on what’s going to be another fantastic occasion. As the organisers, we pride ourselves on making choices that will promote sustainability as much as possible in our event.

For example, participants can have a tree planted in their name instead of getting a t-shirt, all of our information, the race programme, maps and forms are available online to save paper. Every year we review the best options for water and goodie bags.

Now we’re excited to announce the next step on our sustainability journey – we’re going wooden when it comes to our finisher medals for the first time this year!

We’re working with an Irish company to provide mementos of our participants’ brilliant achievements that are more environmentally friendly and sustainable than the traditional metal option.

We’re really proud to join other Irish events which have led the way on this and we’re sure everyone crossing the finish line will love the result – they look fantastic and will offer a lasting memory of what’s sure to be a great day when #TheWorldComesToCork!

We’ll soon be unveiling the medals which will have a specific design for each event so keep an eye on the website and our socials for the latest updates. And don’t forget – if you haven’t registered yet, you can still sign up for the full marathon, half marathon or our first-ever 10k. We can’t wait to see you at the start line.

Join us on the June bank holiday weekend for a unique run through the streets of Cork city.
