Team Relay

The Race

The Start Time is 8.30am on St Patrick’s Street.

The Team Relay makes this MoreThanAMarathon! The relay offers runners, joggers and walkers of all distances an opportunity to take part in the marathon without having to complete the full 26.2 miles. If you’re over 18 on the day, you’re included and, remember, there’s no upper age limit!

The Relay is run on the marathon course, starting and finishing on St Patrick’s Street.

The relay stages are as follows:

LEG 1: Start (Patrick’s Street) to near Silversprings Hotel: 4.7 miles (7.6km)

LEG 2: Silversprings to Ringmahon Road: 5.5 miles (8.8km)

LEG 3: Ringmahon to Victoria Road: 5.8 miles (9.3km)

LEG 4: Victoria Road to Model Farm Road: 5.7 miles (9.2km)

LEG 5: Model Farm Road to the finishing line (Patrick’s Street): 4.6 miles (7.4km)

Team members take one leg each (in teams of five), or take two or more consecutive legs in whatever combination suits them. We don’t need to know which runner is taking which leg, but the Captain should know who’s on which section.

Buses will shuttle to and from City Hall to Silversprings, Ringmahon Road and Model Farm Road.

  • Your team can be made up of between 2 and 5 members
  • Teams can be mixed or all male/all female
  • Each team appoints one member as a Captain, who will be the point of contact for the race organisers.
  • Only one entry form per team is required – the Team Captain must fill this out. The form is the same as for the individual marathon, but additional details must be filled in for the Relay.
  • As with the individual marathon, all team members must be 18 years of age or older on June 5th 2022.
  • Once you’ve entered your team members’ names, your members can run in any order that you want. We only need to know who’s on the course on race day, not necessarily the order in which you’re going to run.
  • REGISTRATION: At least one member of each relay team must register in Cork City Hall (date and time details will follow soon). You’ll pick up your team’s race pack there.
  • Please note that the team pack can only be given out intact – individual members can’t collect their race packs separately at registration.
  • On RACE DAY, Shuttle Buses will be available at City Hall to take you to your outlying changeover points. You may, of course, make your own way to your changeover but remember that there are traffic restrictions in place throughout the day. We’ll issue a bus first-and-last timetable closer to race day.
  • Arrive early at City Hall and allow plenty of time to get to your changeover position.
  • Calculate how quickly your preceding teammate will complete their section; allow at least a half-hour at your changeover position to find your appropriate section, to warm up, change gear, and just to savour the atmosphere.
  • Remember, if you don’t make it to your changeover on time, your team won’t be able to complete the race.
